01 · Part of the whole picture
Crypto is a first-class account, not a footnote
Mozaic has a dedicated crypto account category. Whatever you hold sits next to your chequing, your TFSA, your Margin account, and your house in one net-worth figure. The math is the plain kind: total assets minus total liabilities, recomputed on the server every time an account syncs, converted to your base currency so a US-dollar exchange balance and a Canadian-dollar one land in the same total.
On the dashboard you can see how much of your net worth is crypto at a glance, broken out by account type, instead of having it averaged into a generic investments bucket. It reads as crypto because that is what it is.
02 · How crypto gets in
Connected brokerages, banks that expose it, CSV, or by hand
There is no one-click connect for a crypto exchange here, because Mozaic does not integrate directly with exchanges like Coinbase or Binance. Crypto reaches your dashboard four concrete ways instead: a brokerage that holds crypto, like Wealthsimple Crypto, connects through SnapTrade; an institution that reports a crypto account through Plaid is classified as crypto automatically; a CSV export from another app imports your crypto accounts; and anything else you add as a manual holding with the symbol, the quantity, and a price you set.
Every connection is read-only. Mozaic can see balances and holdings but can never move coins or place a trade.

03 · One base currency
USD exchanges and CAD wallets, reconciled to one number
Crypto rarely lives in your home currency. Mozaic asks you to pick a base currency, defaulting to Canadian dollars, and converts each crypto balance into it before adding up your net worth, while every account keeps its own native currency on its card. A US-dollar exchange account reads in US dollars where you expect it, and the conversion only happens at the consolidated line.
Two real limits are worth stating plainly. Conversions use the current exchange rate rather than the rate on the day you bought, so the number tracks today's rates. And if a rate cannot be fetched during a sync, Mozaic leaves that account out of the total and flags it rather than quietly guessing.
04 · What updates, and what does not
Values refresh on sync, with one real caveat
For connected crypto, the value is whatever the provider reported at the last sync, refreshed daily and whenever you sync on demand. Mozaic does not run its own live crypto price feed, so it does not chase a second-by-second market price. For manual holdings, the value is the price you enter, and it stays put until you update it.
That means the figure is accurate to your last sync or your last manual edit, not a live ticker. It is a deliberate trade: no invented prices and no silent guesses, so the crypto line in your net worth is a number you can trust rather than one that drifts on its own.
