Tracking TFSA and FHSA contribution room
Set up your TFSA and FHSA room in Mozaic, check the contributions it detects, and understand what the figures cover. RRSP and RESP room are not tracked.
Updated
Go to Analytics > Contribution Room to see how much you can still put in your TFSA and FHSA this year. Mozaic tracks these two accounts only. RRSP and RESP room are not tracked.
Contribution room is per person, so the figures cover all your accounts, wherever they are held.
Set up your TFSA room
Choose one of three ways:
- Enter my CRA room: type the Contribution room figure from the CRA and its As of date. Mozaic subtracts the contributions it sees after that date. This is the most accurate option, and it carries the CRA figure badge.
- Enter my net deposit: type the Total contributed to date (your contributions minus your withdrawals) and your birth year.
- Estimate it for me: enter your Year of birth, then tick I've been a resident of Canada since I turned 18 or give the year you became a resident. The result carries the Estimate badge.
For an estimate, room starts in the latest of 2009, the year you turned 18 and your residency year. Mozaic adds each year's published limit ($7,000 for 2026), subtracts the contributions it detected, and adds back withdrawals from earlier years.
To check your figure against a quick calculation, try the TFSA contribution room calculator, or read what a TFSA is.
Review detected contributions
Mozaic looks for deposits and transfers into your registered accounts, in CAD, and counts them by default. Look over the list:
- Switch off any entry that doesn't use room. For example, a transfer from another TFSA doesn't use room.
- If a contribution is missing, select Add a contribution and enter it.
A badge shows whether you are On track or Over limit. Withdrawals come back as room on January 1 of the following year, not right away.
Set up your FHSA room
- Enter your FHSA opening year.
- Enter your net deposit (what you put in minus what you took out).
FHSA room is $8,000 for each year the account is open, up to $40,000 over your lifetime. Unused room carries forward, but only up to $8,000, so the most you can contribute in one year is $16,000.
Note: FHSA contributions are not detected from your transactions. Enter your net deposit and keep it up to date, or the figure will not reflect what you actually contributed.
Not tax advice
These figures help you keep track. They are not tax advice. The CRA is the official source for your contribution room: check your CRA account before a large contribution, especially near the limit.
