How often accounts update, and row statuses
Connected accounts update once a day, and you can sync by hand. Here is what "Synced", "Stale", "Needs sync" and the other statuses on the Accounts page mean.
Updated
Mozaic updates your connected accounts automatically once a day, in the evening (Eastern time). Bank connections can also update during the day when your bank sends new data. Each account row on the Accounts page has a short status line that says how fresh its numbers are.
Syncing by hand
Click Sync Accounts in the sidebar, or Sync All at the top of the Accounts page.
- When it works, you see Sync completed.
- If your accounts were synced less than 2 hours ago, Mozaic does not ask your bank again. You see Nothing was refreshed. Your accounts can be checked again in [minutes] min. Wait and try again later.
- Banks that ask for a code at every sign-in are not included in Sync All. They update only when you sign in (see the related article).
What the status line means
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Synced [time] | Updated less than 24 hours ago. |
| Stale | Last updated 24 hours ago or more. |
| Pending | Connected, but not synced yet. |
| Edited [time] or Manual | A manual account. It changes only when you edit it. |
| Reconnection needed | The bank needs you to sign in again. |
| Fetched [time] or Sign in to refresh | A bank that asks for a code at every sign-in. The time is when data was last fetched. |
| Locked by your bank | Your bank reported your online banking as locked. |
| Not syncing | You chose to stop syncing this account. |
| Not updating | Updates are paused because your subscription is no longer active. |
| Connection ended | This connection no longer updates. |
The account panel (click a row) shows the same information under Connection, with the exact Last sync date, or Never synced.
The "Needs sync" badge
When you group accounts By Institution, a bank's header shows Needs sync if one of its accounts has not synced for more than 24 hours. Try Sync All first.
The badge is not shown for manual accounts, accounts you stopped syncing, accounts paused by your subscription, ended connections, or banks that ask for a code at every sign-in.
The sidebar card sums it up: Synced [time], [number] account(s) need attention, or [number] connection(s) paused. The Needs Attention filter on the Accounts page lists the accounts behind that count.
If something looks wrong
- Stale for more than a day after syncing: your bank may be slow to send data. If it lasts, try reconnecting the bank.
- Reconnection needed or Locked by your bank: see the related articles for what to do.
- Not updating: reactivate your subscription, then reconnect.
