Banks that update only when you sign in
Some banks, such as RBC, ask for a code at every sign-in. Mozaic can then fetch their data only while you are signed in. This is normal, not an error.
Updated
Some banks ask for a one-time code every time anyone signs in, RBC among them. For these banks, Mozaic can fetch new data only while you are signed in through the bank window. Between sign-ins, the account keeps the balances and transactions from your last visit. Nothing is broken.
How to recognize these accounts
- The status line reads Fetched [time]: when the data was last fetched from your bank. It shows Sign in to refresh when Mozaic has no fetch date yet.
- The account panel explains This bank needs you for every update: your bank asks for a verification code at each login, so the account updates only when you sign in again through Mozaic.
- Sync All and the daily automatic sync skip these accounts, because they cannot reach new data without you.
- These accounts never get the Needs sync badge and are not counted as needing attention.
Refresh the data
- Open the account panel and click Refresh from bank, or use a Sign in prompt on the Accounts page.
- The bank window opens. Sign in and complete every step your bank asks for, including the codes.
- When you finish, Mozaic fetches your latest data and the Fetched time moves to now.
The "Sign in" prompt
Once the data is more than a day old, the Accounts page offers a sign-in:
- In the default view, grouped by institution, the bank's header shows a Sign in button, one per connection.
- Otherwise, a banner reads Sign in to update your bank data, with [bank name] asks for a code at every login, so it only updates when you sign in. and a Sign in button.
You don't have to act on it. To dismiss the banner, click the × at its right. It stays closed until the data from your next sign-in is more than a day old, so you are asked once per refresh, not every day. Dismissing is remembered on the browser you use.
Before you sign in again
Each refresh is a full sign-in with your bank's own security steps. If your bank ever reports your online banking as locked, the account shows Locked by your bank; see the related article before trying again.
