How your net worth is calculated

Your net worth is everything you own minus everything you owe. Mozaic shows it on the dashboard and on the Accounts page, converted to your base currency.

What counts

Mozaic adds up:

• the balances of your active accounts,
• plus your manual assets, such as a home or a car,
• minus your debts, such as credit cards and loans.

A credit card or loan is counted once, even when it also has debt details attached. Accounts whose type isn't confirmed yet are left out until it is.

Where to see it

• Dashboard: the Net Worth card shows the total, with Total Assets and Total Liabilities. It also shows the change this month and the change since your history starts ("all time").
• Accounts page: the net worth total with Assets and Liabilities. Use the tabs All, Assets and Liabilities to filter the list.

Reading the chart

The net worth chart has three lines: Assets, Debt and Net worth. Pick a range with 1M, 3M (the default), 1Y or All.

If you just signed up, the chart has little to show yet. Check back after a few days to see your progress over time.

Snapshots

Mozaic saves a snapshot of your net worth every day, and again after your accounts sync. The chart is built from these snapshots.

If you use account groups (for example personal and business), each group keeps its own history.

Balances left out for lack of an exchange rate

Every balance is converted to your base currency before it is added. If no exchange rate is available for a balance's currency, that balance is left out of the total, and a note tells you how many balances were left out.

If something looks wrong

• An account is missing from the total: check that the account is active and that its type is set.
• A note says balances were left out: no exchange rate was available for their currency. See the related article on currencies.
• The chart looks flat or short: snapshots only start once you join, so older history isn't shown.
