Plans and the free trial

What the free plan includes, what Premium adds, how the 14-day trial works and what happens when it ends.

Mozaic has two plans: a free plan and Premium. Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial, and you don't need a credit card to start it.

What the free plan includes

Everything you keep by hand is free, with no time limit:

  • Manual accounts and transactions
  • CSV import
  • Category rules
  • Budgets and goals
  • Net worth across several currencies

What Premium adds

Premium is what keeps your data updating on its own:

  • Connecting banks through Plaid and brokerages through SnapTrade, with automatic syncing
  • AI categorization, which fills in the categories your bank and your rules miss

Premium is billed yearly or monthly, in Canadian dollars. The yearly plan costs less per month. See the pricing page for current prices.

How the trial works

The trial lasts 14 days and starts when you create your account. During the trial you can connect your banks and brokerages and they sync automatically.

AI categorization is not part of the trial. It starts once your paid plan starts. Until then, your bank's categories and your own rules still apply. In Settings > Preferences > Auto-categorization, you'll see the note "Automatic categorization by AI is part of paid plans. Your rules still apply."

We send you a few emails during the trial, including a reminder before it ends.

Keeping Premium after the trial

  1. Go to Settings > Profile > Subscription.
  2. Select Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe billing portal.
  3. Add your payment method. You can also switch between the monthly and yearly plan there.

You won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before then.

What happens when the trial ends without a card

  • Your account moves to the free plan. Nothing is charged and nothing is deleted.
  • Your bank and brokerage connections are disconnected. Balances stay at their last update and no longer refresh on their own.
  • A banner reads Your trial has ended, with a See plans button.

You can keep using everything on the free plan. If you subscribe later, reconnect your banks and brokerages so they start syncing again.

Inactive free accounts

A free account with no sign-in for 12 months is deleted automatically. Before that happens, we email you about 30 days and 7 days ahead. Signing in at any point resets the 12 months. Accounts with an active subscription are not affected.

Note: Annual plans are refundable pro-rata within the first 30 days. To ask for one, write to support@mozaicfinance.com.
