Your dashboard before and after accounts
What the dashboard shows before you add anything, and which cards fill in once your first accounts are in.
Updated
Until you add an account or an asset, your dashboard is empty and offers three ways to start. As soon as one account or asset exists, the dashboard switches to its full layout by itself.
Before you add anything
With no accounts, assets or debts, the dashboard shows No accounts yet with the line Add accounts to start tracking your net worth, and three buttons:
- Connect your first account: link a bank or brokerage.
- Add manually: enter an account or an asset yourself.
- Import from CSV: bring in a statement file.
Mozaic doesn't fill the dashboard with sample figures. Everything you see comes from accounts you add.
If you finished the setup wizard without adding an account, a Finish setting up banner also appears, with a Finish setup button that takes you to Accounts.
Once your first account is in
The empty state goes away on its own. On a computer, the dashboard opens with a greeting and today's date, then shows its cards in two columns.
Left column:
- A one-line summary marked From your accounts.
- Net Worth: your total, with Total Assets and Total Liabilities, how much it moved this month and since the start.
- Holdings: your largest investments by value, with a link to see all of them.
- Your budgets and your goals.
Right column:
- Latest Transactions, with View all.
- Monthly Spending, comparing this month with last month.
- Your recurring payments.
On a phone, the same cards are stacked in one column.
Cards that stay hidden at first
The budgets, goals and recurring cards only appear once there is something to show. Create a budget or a goal and its card shows up. The recurring card appears once there are recurring payments to list.
A manual account fills in net worth right away. A card like Latest Transactions needs transactions, which come from a connected account, a CSV import or entries you add.
After you connect a bank or brokerage
Mozaic imports your accounts in the background after you connect, so balances and transactions can take a few minutes to arrive. You'll see a message while it works. You can keep using the app in the meantime; the cards update as the data comes in.
If something looks wrong
- The dashboard is still empty after connecting: the import may still be running. Check Accounts for a message about your institution.
- An account is missing from net worth: if Mozaic couldn't tell what kind of account it is, it asks you to set the type on the Accounts page, and it isn't counted until you do.
